1) Follow Through: You must always remember to follow through with your swing- continuing to move the barrel as you're pulling the trigger for a slight and even for a slight second afterwards. If you stop after firing, by the time the shot is at the right elevation, it will be behind target.
2) Eyes Focused: The amount of a lead is a calculation between your eye tracking the target and your brain estimating speed and target positioning. It is imperative that you keep focused on the target and not on the lead location or your hands will not move the gun to the correct position to shoot. The other thing to remember with lead is it's very important to keep our eyes focused on the target.
3) Don’t Analyze: Like focusing on the target, trying to think about the correct lead position can distract your mental calculation. Think about when you learned to drive, you looked ahead and your brain told your hands how much to turn the wheel. You don’t say to your hand, “okay, turn a bit, a bit more, no too much…” You would crash trying to drive this way. You simply look ahead and your brain will tell you how much to turn – if you look into the turn you cannot calculate the speed and fine turning adjustments.
